Is Your Punchline Just A Joke?

I came to a realization the other day about our generation and lives... no one reads anymore, at least not to the extent that was done in times long past. I remember reading about people taking the daily paper and reading that all evening after a hards day's work. I actually saw a paper that was dated from the early turn of the 1900's and the font was so SMALL and there were so many articles... on the COVER PAGE. They just read and read and read. Stories were more involved and detailed than they are now. I just finished reading The Picture Of Dorian Grey (AMAZING, though in some parts can get overbearingly talkative) and the pace and detail of situations was just so much, not a bad thing, but definitely different than your Steven King, that's for sure.

And I started to think, "Why don't we read as much anymore? What took it over?" And I thought all of this while listening to my iPod... and that's when the realization came to the fore; our music is our literature. Life's pace is much different than it ever was 100 years ago, and what everyone does is listen to music. And with the advent of the internet and P2P networks, we're hearing and discovering new things our mom's and pop's wouldn't have caught up with. I think music is our literature nowadays, and though you have to search for it, you can still find some amazing stuff, lyrically, out there. Oh, it's not going to replace it as a definite medium. If anything, the internet has fostered a bigger crowd of people who are budding authors in whichever field they find interest in, but it certainly is a viable alternative in terms of scope and reach, this thing, music.

What do you think?

In other news/thoughts, I have a huge back library of poems, some good, IMO, that I want to share, but don't feel that they mesh with my current style. In order to not confuse or put off anyone, what I'll do it just post them as Scrapes, so if you have Scrapes disabled for me, but want to be able to check them out, make sure you enable it. I don't know how I'll do it yet, whether I'll have it in the title or down in the comment field what year it was written, but you'll be able to see it at least. And hey, if pieces get good responses, and you dear readers feel it should be pulled out of scrapes, I'll do that, cool?

And... I'm really loving Lady Gaga lately. Absolutely aDORE her.

I Kissed Your Lips And I Tasted Blood

I've kept my opening, start up page here on dA to the Newest filter instead of Popular for a few months now, and I don't think I can take much more of it. There are SO many junk things that get posted ALL the time... It's just surprising and sad all in the same breath. I wish there was a fliter for decent stuff that gets under the radar that doesn't have a kagillion favorites... or something to that effect.

Regina Spektor is amazing. I never tire of her at all, and she so reminds me of the good ol New York I was fond of while living there briefly. Her music inspires.

FIRSTLY, some personal pimpage. My book of poetry is finally out there to view! It's over at lulu.com and it's called iridescent candescence. It's 73 poems and 171 pages of goodness, I promise you.

The link is: [link] For now, it's a download only, and it's free, so head on over there and attack it. If enough people request it, I'll paper-publish it and you guys can get your hands on it. But give me some feedback, tell me how you like it, if the poem choices are good enough and the layout. Spent some good amount of time on it and went through more than a few issues, but it's all done now.
Has my newest style employed in the book as well, basically everything lowercase except for names and places. I think it works out, let me know, won't ya?

SECONDLY, I'll be getting internet NEXT WEEK! Which means you should see much more of me than before, which makes me, and hopefully you, very happy. And now! Some acknowledgments to some great talent out there:

:iconbobsmade: makes the BADDEST custom sneakers! I REALLY need to get me a pair.

Been WAY too long since I've updated this. The months roll by really quickly. I hadn't even realized.

There isn't too much to mention. Been thinking of compiling my poems, ones here and not, into a little e-book for you guys to download for free from lulu. Would you all like that idea? My styles and topics seem to vary and change often, probably because I get bored with one way of writing, thinking, doing. So, if I did do this e-book thing, would you want a consistent style or a variance of pieces? I was going to do a poll but, geez, they seem so overdone nowadays! I come to my inbox with seven of them in a two day period!

MGMT is awesome and I'm JUST now getting around to being absorbed into everything that is them.

Realized I don't have a SUB anymore! Oh noes!

And some favs of mine recently:

:iconvachi-bumbernickle:
she makes me SO happy - the fotos are reflections of what i feel often

:iconetre-aime:
my newest fav. i SO discovered her before she got her DD... okay, well, it was afterwards, but I didn't discover her THROUGH her DD.

:iconestallidos:
no words needed

Thank you for all the recent favs and watches. I'm so happy so many different people are really enjoying my work.

I really like the new Fall Out Boy. All should listen. The lyrics are fab.

I'm really starting to like "Summer" by Vivaldi more and more.

I really want to write more poetry.
